750 motor in 400 frame

I have just been browsing on Ebay.I tapped in Honda VFR400 under 'cars and vehicles' and discovered that somebody is selling a VFR400 with a 750 motor installed.Has anybody else seen this? The two downsides are that he wants five and a half grand for it and that it is in Wales

A lot of effort has gone into that but you have to ask why? Had it been an NC30/35 it would be fair enough, but a 24? He's still running the standard wheels for Christ's sake.

Good conversion, but yeah an nc30 would of been a better option, still prob be fun tho, bit of a sleeper.......

Yes, the bike is fitted with crossply tyres that are designed for 400cc bikes and you've put a more powerful engine into an already stressed frame.

Not forgetting that it looks like by fitting larger discs and calipers the anti-dive has been disabled on the already soft front 37mm forks.

I have nothing against tuning or replicas but why do all that to an nc21 with some nc24 bits on it?

Its like building a ferari replica but using a robin reliant as the base.

The NC24 motor is just as good and makes the same power as an NC30 motor if running properly. Surely with 44 years experience you would fix the handling of the bike first?

The motor was way ahead of the brakes and tyres and suspension when it came out. Hence the substation improve on the NC30.

NC24s dont get done up so much mainly because of the NC30 being a much better base, but if you were willing to spend 5500 on one.

For 5500 im 100% sure you can buy a decent low mile NC24, give it a full service, fit a set of 41mm overhauld front forks that have new springs matched to ride weight and a 17" front rim with a BT90 on it, along with some 4 piston NC30 calipers.

You can also fit a new rear shock and get an Early VFR750 wheel fitted to the rear and fit a 150 or 160 BT090 tyre to the back.

Im pretty sure youd have quite a bit of change left over and unelss you were drag racing it would beat that above bike hands down.

Nothing much seems to be wrong with the quality of workmanship but I just dont understand why?

Its like hand crafting the perfect teapot only to realise that its made from chocolate.

Good effort though. I had a 24, they do not handle at all compared to a 30. It was flexy then.
