How would to fix this overlapping panel?
Good evening,
I am just looking for some advise on my panels on my bike... I have recently had them resprayed and where the side panels meet behind the seat wont sit properly....
Please can you give me any ideas on how to solve the problem... I was thinking 2 small holes under the rear seat and cable tie them together tighter but this is only my last resort.
Ideas anyone, or leave them as they are?

Nope OEM... I had chinese ones before which did this but these are OEM. I do have another set of panels which dont do this but that means spraying them all up again etc!Drunkn Munky wrote:Why are they overlapping? are they chinese panels?
It's just so annoying getting them sprayed then this fitment. Its either leave them like this or drill and tie them (out of sight) Getting the other set is too time consuming/effort as i've just had these done... What do you think?

If you really must drill them then this is what i did to get some chinese panels to fit,
Small pieces of ally sheet underneth then pop riveted to hold the panels in place
Im pretty sure they are OEM because I had chinese fairings before the the quality of these fairings is superior to the old ones.
I may end up getting my spare set of OEM painted up in the long run but as i've literally just had these done I'd like to use them first!
Cheers for the picture... Did you drill through the painted side or from the underside to make the holes?

Re: How would to fix this overlapping panel?
hi. is it possible you have a bent bracket at the top? i know i had a set af seat panels that fit like a glove then bought new oem and bugger me if i had not knowingly bought oem id swear they were chinese. this also applied to the new oem lowers i had bought. maybe new old stock they were warped, dont feally know but some working of the brackets was needed for a perfect fit. have you tried putting them on loose then eveningly tightening them up as the large bolts dont need to be ultra tight I have found. make sure each side is flush together as you tighten a bit at a time then once nipped up start tightening all other screws. finally add those little flat clips to the seat area.

Re: How would to fix this overlapping panel?
Thanks for such a detailed reply, I have tried all different methods of trying to get them to sit flush... No luck. Most of the panels have had some repairs here and there so it may just be poor alignment. As soon as I pinch the panels together behind riders seat, under the passenger eat it lines up perfectly throughout.Durka Durka wrote:hi. is it possible you have a bent bracket at the top? i know i had a set af seat panels that fit like a glove then bought new oem and bugger me if i had not knowingly bought oem id swear they were chinese. this also applied to the new oem lowers i had bought. maybe new old stock they were warped, dont feally know but some working of the brackets was needed for a perfect fit. have you tried putting them on loose then eveningly tightening them up as the large bolts dont need to be ultra tight I have found. make sure each side is flush together as you tighten a bit at a time then once nipped up start tightening all other screws. finally add those little flat clips to the seat area.
What method would you suggest to hold it together?

Drill the ally bracket first, place on top of the panel and mark the holes, drill panel from above, place ally bracket underneth and then rivet together.claydontoby92 wrote:Cheers for the picture... Did you drill through the painted side or from the underside to make the holes?
Im not sure how the CBR panels will be be but with the RVF you can still remove the seat unit as one piece.

I was thinking about using your idea but instead of rivets, using nuts and bolts? As the cbr panels come off in 2 halves.... Surely should work just as well?

Yes nuts and bolts will do the same job there just take up more space
