I havent forgot Tee, that spring has your name on it, when i can get to it ill post it my workshop is a store room for my dads parts at the momentDrunkn Munky wrote:I have a linkage on the way from rick that eventually i will be using with a BMW shock, from memory the BMW shock is too long by about 5mm so i'll see how that works out once its fitted, it may be fine it may mean an adjustable pull arm is needed which isnt a big deal.
Also for my weight a softer spring will need fitting rather than a stiffer one as used when fitting a BMW shock to the stock linkage, i hoping this will give the already poor damping on the BMW shock a easier time.

Theres no rush mate, i got a feeling the BMW spring wont fit the ohlins unit anyway plus i think its the same weight as whats already on there, the BMW spring rate is 11.5kg/m isnt it?
Im actually after a BMW shock now if anyone has a cheap one going

getting on fine with mine. I went with an 800lb tapered spring (2.5" to 2.25 " i think it was) as the first one i got was the same ID throughout (2.5")and looked like it was going to pop off the top collar which is narrower than the one at the bottom.
Have got the corect sag setting, the bike feels plusher but also handles better - allows me to hold a line more confidently than with the knackered OEM one that was on there originally. I should point out that i aready have uprated/refurbed fork internals which i would highly recommend if you've not already.
I have the rebound set to '7' and it seems to be coping fine - no pogo stick style action! which i was worried might be a problem with this shock but for me, its been fine. I weight about 13stone with all my gear on.
It raised the rear a bit too. which i thought would make it feel more twitchy but in fact it feels more planted to me.

It don't matter if i'm fixin' it or ridin' it.

I'm 90kg with gear and it's a bit of pogo feeling for me with an 825lb spring (I had some spacer made for 30 quid). I think I'm gona have to get a HRC linkage and a softer spring but it's way better than my old original shock and they are cheap: http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-S1000-RR-Fed ... 3ccee5cc17
BTW what springrate would be appropriate with the HRC link for me 625lb?

No idea but im 75kg with kit and have gone for a 500lbs spring, i originally fitted a 600lbs but it felt very stiff even without riding it. I am using a ohlins shock tho not a BMW one.

Ordered it from a company called spring coil. http://www.springcoil.co.uk/suspension_springs.html
Came to about £60 all in as it was a one off. Choice of colours(went for red) and spring rates.
Would have been much less if i had had a batch made up but i didn't think there was enough interest.
He're an extract from the emails i had with them.
We would be making the spring with a std 55mm ID to clear ( so 56 id actual ) so the OD would calc @ 82.3mm
We would then be reducing the other end down to the 51mm id to clear ( 52mm actual ) the OD of the smaller end would be 78mm
We would be offering from 13mm Sil chrome wire
We would generally aim for 3% on tolerance
With the one end being reduced it is slightly harder to maintain but we should be there or there abouts with the 3%
The spring it self has 77.5mm apx travel
The price would be + VAT and + Carriage ( £10.95 ) im afraid
Unless you picked these up and paid cash then we could do them for the price quoted
Guys name was ryan. very helpful.

How long is the shock, how much preload is on it now, what sag is set, is it a linear constant diameter spring, what linkage is fitted, nc30 or nc35, what size is the wheel?
Sorry for the million questions.
