Wonky front (screen, photos and videos up)

Post by benny »

Noticed today my front looks wonky, I think it's the screen, but the misalignment of the bolts of the mirror brace with the nose cone (only slightly but enough to cause a crack) makes me wonder if its something else. Wonder if anyone can see in these photos

I can't tell which way to bend them! Any idea? Also they seem stiff so just flex slightly then go back to original position :a
I presume you did mean the mirror braces?

Take the mirrors off, the brace if straight should fit the nose cone without stressing it, if there's a gap you can see which way to bend it (the brace).

Undid and removed the mirrors today (for some reason was a real faff today). The braces weren't far out of alignment, I managed to move them a bit I think (pretty hard to bend as they just rebound back) but after looking again today I actually think the screen has a slightly different curve on one side to the other, previous owner doesn't know the brand of the screen so could just be a poorly moulded bubble.

I had the same problem and after fiddling trying to get it right it just ended up worse, the bracket welded onto the brace was also bent on mine. Most of these bikes have been down the road/dropped at some point and have a slightly bent brace. I got a new one from gav at jap4 for about £35 IIRC, nice welds, good quality and sorted it out.

Decided it's probably the screen, took the mirrors off today and it still looks wonky.
Here's some photos.
