Cdi help

Post by donk »

I'm interested in a gsxr 400 gk76a local to me and it has one of those Cdi's from china on it my concern is how long it lasts before it packs up? Are they any good? The bike seems to run fine. I have 2 different original Cdi's I can try but will it damage anything just trying them ? The bike is on a H plate the red/pink & white coloured one has anyone got one they could tell me the correct bb number on the Cdi . It's got 2 jack plugs in the Cdi so I gather its non sp. any help would be much appreciated

the chinese cdi's either go pop straight away or work well.
You need to watch the revs as some do not have a limit so allow the motor to be over rev'd.
Should be able to plug the other cdi's in, it will run or just back fire.

Thanks for your help mate ill try the 2 I have and wait and see. I'll still try to find bb code for the original Cdi in the mean time. I want to buy the bike but want a spare Cdi just in case. I made a mistake on the year of the bike it's a k reg 1993 with 2 jack plugs in the Cdi so If anyone may have any info on the bb code on the Cdi that would be great. Vvs do you still do the o ring kits for the 76a ?

There are parts lists available to download that show all the numbers.
