standard stainless exhaust?
I was told that the sections of the standard exhaust that bolt to the motor are stainless... The front one looks it ... Haven't put a magnet on the rear header to check... But in the meantime is this true? The rear one on mine looks like rusted mild steel? ... Was just wondering _ thanks

Do you mean the rear manifold (bolts to the rear head)? It's steel and can corrode.tigerclaw wrote:The rear one on mine looks like rusted mild steel?

Sweet - thanks guys... Odd that they use a different grade but also sounds possible, spoke to a guy who deals in bike exhausts and he seemed sure that both the front and rear were definately stainless - so a different grade stainless may explain the different rusting / look. Going to have both "pickled and pacivated" and will see how it turns out

Re: standard stainless exhaust?
Just spoke to my dad and he reckons "304 and 316 ss is silver white. 310 is black and handles much greater heat. Also lot more expensive." So maybe its 310 because it has a bend as it leaves the head so it must be high heat which normal mils steel would not handle for long... The front headers may be lower grade stainless as the bends are more open so focussed heat must be less
