NC30 charging system checks

Post by Julesholling »

Ok so I know there are loads of these charging system posts here and I have read as many as I can to help with my fault. If I could get a few tips though if where it try next that would be great!

- Brand new battery fitted but when running I get a reading of just over 12v off the battery.
- Checked the alternator connector and get a reading of between 1.0 and 0.8 over each if the 3 wire combinations (stator is therefore ok, right?)
- rectifier is the R6 conversion one and was replaced last year (how can I check this though?)
- wires leading to the rectifier are burnt and obviously have gotten v hot. I will replace, but what do burnt wires Normally mean??

Hope someone can help as I'm lost as to what to check next and don't want to randomly replace parts.

Cheers guys

Burnt wires mean somethings fucked up. Which could have been your old battery.

Do the checklist/flowchart I posted above, there's a section on testing the reg/rec in there too.
