Radiator cap hitting tank

Post by DanD72 »

As above my radiator cap is touching the underside of my tank , not allowing it to sit all the way down on the frame/rubbers has anyone experienced this before or know what's wrong ? I have the rad cap housing thing (can't think of the name) on the upper side of the bracket. Sorry for the bad explanation .

Have you checked that the reservoir bracket is mounted correctly and isn't bent?
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

So just got in and took the tank/airbox off i had the bracket bolted to the furthest back of the two holes so i swapped it to the forward one and now my problems solved tank sits down nice , i realized that the little breather pipe and dish were filled with water. Is this normal ? i have it going onto the smaller tube on the bottom of the airbox and the rocker cover breather pipe on the larger one. Pictures below and a couple pics of my bike.

christ, that looks lovely. Really like the fairing scheme and they look great condition. Are they oem cause they seem to fit really well so assume they are.

Cheers mate im pretty pleased with it , nah there not oem panels but my favorite paint scheme there ABS replicas from hong-kong i heard people had problems with the fit but i ordered them, surprisingly they fitted very well needed abit of adjustment here and there main problem was the rear seat fiarings and light surround took abit of work on that to get a nice fit. I bought it in January as a cat d write off in a sorry state and completely stripped it down and rebuilt it as a project my first ''Big bike'' .

Got loads of pictures from start to finish if you guys are interested in them. Cant wait to ride it should be on the road in a couple weeks.

very nice, some good work on that, looks really nice and clean from the pics, like the fork lowers. Nice to see another one brought back from the brink!

Having seen them, I could do with a set of panels so may consider investing one day, I would need a tank painted though which puts me off . For the money of the chinese panels, they are hard to fault when they fit ok. Look forward to seeing this finished.

Thanks lots of time, money and effort put into this haha , fork bottoms came up nice with hammerite smooth gold same for the calipers  . Going to be getting quotes for the tank soon but will probably drive it around like that for a month or so. But yeah for the money cant really complain. Still trying to source the ''Cam Gear Train Tri Arm'' decals for the front nose fairing if anyone could point me in the right direction.
