I have just got myself some magnesium Wheels the paint is smooth but under the paint it is ripply (lots of little indended, not smooth) is this normal or should it be 100% smooth? I've never seen any magnesium Wheels before. Thanks for any help.

Re: Marvic Magnesium Wheels
Were they the white ones on ebay other day by any chance?
been reading up on magnesium wheel last couple of days as im getting myself some at weekend
Any idea how old they are?
The indents could be one of 2 things, either the blaster was abit heavy heanded when they were last powdercoated/sprayed or the magnesium could of corroded slightly
On thing i have read up on that is very important is that the magnesium hasnt popped/bloomed/blistered etc as this could be very bad
Im not proffesing to be the knowldge behind whats safe + not but just passing up what ive read + found out
There are many companies that will x-ray them for you if your worried, on i found last night was just £30 per wheel, might be worth doing for peace of mind especially if you dont know the history of the wheels
Hope this helps

What you are probably seeing is the casting marks from the mold.
Nothing to worry about.
