Gorilla comment was overkill to getting his point across.

I do respect my bike, that is why i am here trying to gain as much information as possible before taking any action.

Just to clarify when I say smashing through the gears, i am saying that I am trying to go as fast as possible and quickly changing gears (Hammering through the gears). Im not keeping the throttle 100% open and just smashing the lever until the gear changes.

My point was that you cannot do this with a bike that is older than you and has taken all sorts of abuse before it gets into your hands.

You will have worn gearbox dogs hence the slippage. You need a new motor or gearbox.

They don't get repaired..so you want a new gearbox and the beauty of it is that once they are worn, they slip, get damaged and worn and slip etc etc

so - ride it how you like - I have had mine a long time and ridden it harder than most. It is still living the dream..

mechanical sympathy is a good thing.

So chill out...

You join the thread with "whoa whoa" and "Gorillas" and attacked what I was saying. I think you need to chill out old mate.

If you have ridden harder than most and yours is still "living the dream" then I should be in a decent position with mine.

Right - ok. i think we are done here yes ?
We have established the box is now knackered that i pointed out on the first post.
I am not even sure if the gears are still available new as parts, and with the cost of gaskets - it will be more effective for you to find a good used motor and drop that in its place.
That way you can strip the old motor and take a look inside, measure bits up and see where the wear has taken place.

Regarding mechanical sympathy - once you have seen the insides of an old desmo 916 motor after 40k - that gives you a whole new sense of "chilling" when you think of that huge piston about 6" from your love spuds at 9k RPM.
But of course one of those wouldn't make a bid for freedom would they ? or would they ?

Um.... it's split the barrel clean in two and that piston's ended up the wrong way up? What the hell happened to cause such a massive failure?? :o
