using carb cleaner

Hi if i wanted to clean the carbs quickly with out removing them from the bike people say you can try spraying carb cleaner in. If i am to do this when i remove the tank to get at them where do I direct the carb spray???

Nope, that wont clean them. it will just drag it through the intakes.
to clean the carbs properly they need to be removed.
And FWIW - get a new set of carb rubbers from a RVF ordered before you start the job if the old NC30 items are of unknown vintage.
it will save much stress, bloody knuckles and for the sake of 30 quid you know they are sealed correctly after.

i also suggest you source a nice long philips screwdriver too like these

Do it properly. Send them to be ultrasonically cleaned, replace seals and balance and jet properly. Makes a world of difference.

I've just put on a set of carbs I had cleaned, which I then replaced all the seals, re-jetted, set float heights and balanced. The bike just feels so much crisper, feels like there's more power and it's instant power.

Saying that, the set I had on before are so knackered they're only good for spares and scrap.

I have spare rubber inlets ready to go on. Never stripped down the carbs before is it a job I could do if I took my time and went via the instructions in the haynes manuel

take pictures of them from lots of angles prior to starting to take them in bits, helps no end!

Parts needed:
- New main jets (if replacing them)
- Washers for needles
- New float bowl gaskets (or alternatively petrol resistant gasket goo).
anyone have the part numbers ???????????????????????????

Rick Oliver sells o-ring gaskets to replace the original float bowl gaskets at a fraction of the cost of honda parts.
