RVF400 RHS Tail Section - What's it going to take to resto?

Post by Rrotz » Fri Feb 15, 2013 5:44 pm

Found a RVF400 RHS tail section on Yahoo Japan. Any thoughts on condition and what it'll take to restore to mint condition to match a mint/new in box LHS tail section from CMSNL?

Bump. Any thoughts on this? It's inbound now from Jpn. Want to be able to match it up with a brand new, mint LHS tail section. Maybe it wasn't such a great idea to get it. Paid 10 bucks for it but was charged 200 for shipping it. Hell, a half system TRS exhaust cost less to ship.

Im not exactly sure what your asking, we can only see what you can see and its quite clear it needs some repairs for which it will need painting. Your problem is that a OEM panel is not painted its white plastic with decals on top so to make it perfect the whole panel will need painting and new decals applied which is likely to cost you just as much again as your want OEM decals for a perfect match and they not cheap. Then after all that its not going to be OEM as its painted and to the trained eye will stick out like a sore thumb against the other side.

Well, shit. I got the RHS tail section in from Japan and it's not as good as new.

Does anyone know where I can get a NEW RHS Tail section for the 1996 RVF400 RT? Does anyone know a friend, a friend of a friend, a distant cousin, a hated enemy....ANYONE with a RHS tail section with the blue flame? Anyone know a shop or a collector or someplace in Japan where I can get one? Please help!

Good luck, all the money in China etc. Bad news if you really have one good enough to want oem that bad and cant get it. Going to sort my RVFs ok rear bodywork by taking it off putting it safe and going tyga replacement in oe colours, i only ride solo anyways. Worth considering.

JUST GOT THE LHS SEAT COWL FROM CMSNL! HURRAAHH! NOW I HAVE THE FULL TAIL SET!

I HAVE EVERY PIECE FOR A FULL BODY REBUILD EXCEPT THE SEAT, TAIL SEAT, V PIECE AND GRILL! I'M CHUFFED AS FUCK!

NEXT STEP WOULD BE TO HAVE THE TANK RESTORED, CLEAN ALL THE PLASTICS INSIDE AND OUT AND POLISH THE FRAME AND SWING ARM. SHE'S GOING TO LOOK ALMOST BRAND SPANKING NEW SOON!
