Rocker Arm pin grub screws?

Not sure if thats the proper term... seems the best way to describe them though

It goes on the outside of the head and stops the rocker arm pin sliding out... the manual says to discard old ones and replace with new ones as the old ones have a 'special thread'.

I can't find anything on ebay (might be entering the wrong search term) are they available, or do I have to make do with the old ones?

What did you remove those for?

ebay really isnt the place to get specific bike parts from, a dealer like lings or david silvers is much more likely to yield results.

I assume you are on about the "special sealing plug" (12205-MR8-300)

it was discontiniued a long time ago so its not likely to find new ones...

I've removed mine for my engine strip and rebuild. If thats the case loctite!! They only keep the shaft for the rockers in and they have a cut out if i remember that a bolt passes down the side so not going anywhere!

Removed them to take out spacers someone had previously put in (between the rocker arms) and replace them with the correct springs. Basically they had to be taken out to do the clearances... I've managed to source 6 from honda europe.. just need 2 more. Cheers for the help

Just for future reference it is possible to remove the shafts and springs without removing the plugs on the outside, maybe not if you had these spacers inbetween but when everything is as it should be its doable and described in the workshop manual and saves the hassle of trying to find NOS plugs.

Actually, depending on the heads, it's sometimes isn't possible.

Couple of sets I have worked on you could remove the rocker arms from the inside, but the last set had been staked so to was impossible to withdraw them. I'm pretty sure this was how it was from the factory.

I managed to get a full set from here:

Oh right i didnt know that, have done it on both VFR and RVF heads ok. To quote the workshop manual "The rocker arm shaft can easily be removed by pressing the spring with the two rocker arms and moving the shaft inward." It was quite fiddly when i did it a couple of months back, its interesting to hear that yours where staked in though.

Interesting to hear of a staked set, never come across those before, every one i've worked on i've been able to remove as above.

Wonder if it was a factory job

Maybe an over zealous mechanic doing the clearances? It looks like a pretty neat job
