Re: 400 grey bike rally
If riding to a meet that involves a trackday then doing some extra miles would be worth it for me as long as i could camp nearby, but then you have the issue of most people not wanting to risk thier bikes on track and the fact that a cheap trackday at lydden means a bloody long ride for most people to get there.
Did anyone have a look to see how much it would cost to book up brunters for the day? I remember talk of it last year but i cant remember how much it would cost, something like that would be brilliant if you ask me nice and chilled out day without the worry of getting bowled off by some incompetent nobber at a normal TD would probably have more people interested in coming along.
Im still 90% sure im doing a TD at lydden towards the end of july even if its on my own but thats ages away so probably worth me making a thread closer to the time to get some interest.

If you have not done a TD then it is nowhere near as full of nobs as you think - no-one tries to knock you off.
risking your pride and joy is exactly what you do when you take it onto the roads...and you are more likely to get fucked up too!

I'd definitely be up for a trackday meet as long as it doesn't clash with a race. :)

Oh yea i agree its much more risky taking a bike out onto the road, taking mine out on track even after ive spent all this effort finishing it doesnt really worry me ive had people all winter telling me im going to ride like a wimp now but she will still get used properly for sure!
I think alot of people dont feel the same though, which is a shame will be cool to see a few 400's on track together sometime this year though.

There's 100% more nobs on the road than there is on any trackday, is lydden going to be your first TD? I wouldn't recommend it tbh. It's tight twisty and very very manic, brands would be a better option in the same area, granted it costs a bit more but your enjoy it more and more likely to come away wanting to book another.

Yea will be my first proper trackday, that go kart track at brunters was tight and twisty and i must have spent a good hour on it throughout the day, used to sneak onto an old airfield with a few mates too so im not completly green.
I was thinking about brands or maybe mallory park as thats not too far away but wasnt sure what they where like on the noise tests, have a feeling the JHA's will be a bit on the loud side...

Due to not being able to get to Bruntingthorpe, mainly because of riding 200ish miles by myself and no camping i was overjoyed to see someone mention somewhere closer (90miles) like Squires and with camping, i nearly start planning that second, i was that excited.. only to get the rest of rhe posts and find out its too far for everyone else, oh well back to reality.

Noise testing at brands is strictly 102db for the indy and I belive its 98db for the GP track so you may have issues.

Yea think i might, the guy i bought the system off said it was quieter than he expected and it looks like its been repacked at some point so i may be lucky, will have to find somebody with a DB meter to test it i think.
Back on the subject of rallys, why dont we piggyback onto the Practical sportsbikes track day at cadwell on Saturday 3rd of August, at least that way if hardly anyone shows up there will be plenty of bikes to gawp and and a load of people camping the night before. If i remember right the TDR250 forum did exactly that back in 2011.
