Tooling Up
Right guys and gals - I have a pretty reasonable toolkit as it stands. Socket set, screwdrivers etc.. but with my NC30 facing possible spinal/frame damage (looks okay but looks can be deceiving) im looking to grab hold of what I am going to need to build mine up from a bare frame should it come to that.
What special tools would I be needing? And how do I get them without being crippled for the privilege?
I already have:
Chain Adjuster
NC30 Plugspanner
Thanks in advance all,
dx4

Re: Tooling Up
For a frame swap on a NC30 the main tools other than garden variety wil be the castle spanners for the engine mounts and swingarm pivot bolt.
There was someone on the old forum making them, they are nearly always on eBay or you may be able to borrow them off someone cnearby.
regards

If these are genuine Honda items them wont they be silly money or can Rick do magic? :DSmev wrote:Rick Oliver Also sells the genuine Honda ones which will do the frame and swing arm :)
This sounds interesting Spike what sorta price can you get me on (not sure of sizes, so I hope you or others know):
Socket for Yoke Nut
Socket for Hub Nut
Socket for Wheel Nut
Decent Torque Wrench
Jacks
What do people recommend for getting an NC30 up in the air in a fashion that allows it to be worked on easily? Seen someone supporting theirs with jack somehow along with some axle stands. ABBA stands a worthy investment?

Re: Tooling Up
Cheap one is to put axle stands under the footpegs and a jack under the engine.dx4 wrote:What do people recommend for getting an NC30 up in the air in a fashion that allows it to be worked on easily? Works better with rearsets than original footpegs but does still work (you just have less to locate the stands).

Re: Tooling Up
i went in today and the socket for the rear wheel is a 36mm impact socket (£9.50 normally) and the decent torque wrench is ($49.99 normally) came out as £45, we only do sockets up to 38mm so you'll need to source the top yoke nut one and hub nut (dont know the size but pritty sure its more than 38) seperately
are you interested?

Re: Tooling Up
I've used http://www.cromwell.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for tools before, seem reasonably priced and even phoned up to check I'd received what I ordered.

Re: Tooling Up
I've been using my Brittool torque wrench for many years now and I have to say its never put a foot wrong, even tho I abuse it terribly (I use it as a tightening wrench for torques much higher than its maximum measurement, as its the longest handled wrench I have). I got it from my dad and know it was about £75 4 years ago, so may be more now, and I think theres lots of sizes available.
