Hi all

In the new members intro section I posted some pics and asked what type of forks I had. Older or newer?

I've been informed they look like the older ones. Are these any good? Worth the refurb? Or would people suggest another route?

As a side note just looking at some stainless Venhill lines... :rocks:

Thanks

I think its really upto you and your pocket but i still think springs and oil would do it for everyday riding as would new line and decent Honda oem pads.

Have you rode the bike? Did you feel as though the bike was diving quicker than you would expect when applying the brakes. Soft springs tend to dip quickly even at low speed, when stopping from speed the bike may feel as if its ploughing a field, dipping quickly and riding very low at the front. If not maybe your suspension is ok if this does not happen.

I note from your photo you do have the earlier forks but hey most nc29s have them so cant be bad. I also noticed from your photo you have the tank rubber spacers at the wrong position, they should be forward of the tank near the bottom curve at the front, not a crime just mentioning it.

I use Venhill line, works ok and the brakes dont feel wooden but do clean and use fresh seals in your calipers as this will be worth doing while everything is apart.

Thanks for the info on the tank spacers - things like that I would never know...I bought the bike around summer last year after selling my SV. Must have been something previous owner did? Nice enough bike the SV but I always wanted an NC29, NC30 and NSR250 in my garage. So far I have my NC29 but hey lifes a quest for biking heaven eh? :peace:

As for the way the CBR rode it felt fine but just not as razor sharp as I expected and I put it down to a lack of TLC and 20yrs under its belt. Brakes a little bit wooley...hence my sourcing upgrade parts as part of a resto rebuild/upgrade. The money for this is a bit of a drip feed so best upgrades for the money is order of the day.

What are the differences between the old and new forks? Much?

Thanks again
