Problem with the fuel pump relay.
Hi Guys,
I´ve got an problem with my NC29 projectbike. I´ve build her loose togehter just for testing some functions and for overworking the loom.
So my loom is complete but the insulation is stripped of cause the loom will get a new race spec netting hose insulation. In this condtion fault finding should be easy i thought cause all wiring colors are easy to see.
Important: My fuel pump works well. connectet it direct to 12 V an it runs fine so it have to be the relay I quess.
And another thing: I got an ECU from GF Racing with the HRC mapping on it but I still got the OEM ECU in stock here if I need it.
So to the problem with my fuel pump relay. Can anybody tell me how it works? I´ve looked to the schematic at the Haynes manual and the 4 wires are connectet in this way: two Blue/Yellow to ECU, one black comes from the fuse box and the one blue/black goes to the fuel pump.
So I connectet the relay to te loom with its original connector and thougt when I push the starter switch there must be 12 V on the blue/black wire but my voltmeter says only about 0.1 V or something like that.
So I think my relay is broken but i wanna be shure. So am I right that both wires from the ecu have to be powered with 12 V to the relay to let it switch?
I bought an relay from ebay but the problem stays the same as with the other old relay so I think I bought an broken one.
In germany the relay costs new from my Honda Dealer about 70 pounds so I hope I don´t need it new.

Re: Problem with the fuel pump relay.
Pump relay wont fire until engine is running ... reason #1 , if your engine isnt running it wont need fuel.

Re: Problem with the fuel pump relay.
Pump should run when you hit the starter.
I find the relay packs up at the same time as regrec. You can pull the relay out and fit a strap in the plug to get the pump running (done this to get people home before)

It doesn't run all the time though does it?
