Re: Hello Newbie..i've just joined and into'd myself..
The 2Tk I have, was only purchased from another member on here about 5 months ago so I do not know a tremendous amount about them. I had just refurbished two 3EN2 models, a 1WG Genesis and a 600 3HE so just carried what I had learnt from them over to the TK refurb. There is a bit info out there;you just have to hunt about for it.
WD 40 will do no harm, stop calling it rust.
The fork sliders could be repolished by Brookes, if you specify it is to be done.
Normally front forks only have mechanical work performed by a suspension firm, not asthetics.
This is because of cost/time restraints. Most owners would have the sliders repolished themselves.
The sum you mentioned earlier will cover the cost of rechroming the stanchions, but very little else !
I was paying £100 + for stanchion rechromes 30 years ago ! This is why I asked you about similarities between your 600 and 400 stanchions in an earlier post.
Yes;that is an engine crane.
It was cluttering up the garage and was to be disposed of ,until I saw its potential for bike suspension work.

Those stands would look the part for display purposes but would have limitations for everyday use I think.
The wheels look to be quite small and I push bikes around a lot on the stand. The joint between the upstand and the frame on the rear looks to be bolted and this is the flexing point.
The front stand will be unstable full stop.

My reason for using the Abba is that it's easy for one person to use, it's stable too - you can sit on the bike or even stand on the pegs and it stays rock solid.
Paddock stands are ok in a paddock but if you need to really work on the bike you want it stable. Abba have also bought out a new bit that bolts onto the stand and raises the front wheel, at the momnet I use a front stand under the down pipes, here have a laugh

Re: Hello Newbie..i've just joined and into'd myself..
Well after reviewing the stands I'm not 100% sure on them but I wont make a decision till after weekend. The screen turned up this morning.

Suprised at the quality, i compared it with my original Yamaha and its just as thik and rigid. holes in correct place and the right shape, just missing the black spraymarking on the inside.
I've found a company to re furbish my forks, I went to see them today and they took a look at he pictures and where confident they could correct the problem. So i'm taking them next week, will need to strip down the forks.
I've found a pair of second hand FZR Sp forks on a japanese website but with everything - purchase, post, duty ect. they would be £350 !!! mint forks but not 350 quids worth..
cheers
