engine/frame joint has broken

Post by peppiiino »

Hi all,
just discovered that the joint between the engine and the frame, in the front left side of the engine is broken and the bolt is now a bit lose.
Really i don't know what to do...

is it very dangerous? the other joints are fine but i don't know how long they can resit.
I'll try to post a pic later...

Where is it broken, has it snapped away from the head? If so it's fairly common but I still wouldn't ride knowing its broken.

That's actually a part of the engine casting that has broken. You could get that cut off and a new piece welded on. It's an engine out job however you decide to do it.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

I don't recommend it but you could try a *TEMPORARY* repair with chemical metal putty. Just make sure you leave it to cure for at least 48 hours.
