Powdercoating

Post by Sam-NI »

I'm getting my wheels powdercoating. What else should I strip off my bike and send to them while i'm at it?

There's a long running debate about powder coating wheels vs painting.
I'm sure it'll pop up shortly.

Where you getting your wheels done?

Universal industrial Spraying in Dunmurray, Quoted me £35 quid a wheel for blasting and coating. I assume they spray as well, Name sort of gives it away. I was getting silly quotes of £300 +VAT for a pair other places. Going to see what colours they have, and hopefully go for as close as HRC gold as I can get.

If its place I'm thinkin of, I've seen wheels they did (similar price too) and looked good.
I'll be interested to see the results cos I want gold wheels on both my bikes

Depends how far you wanna go? Are you doing a full re-build?
Fork lowers, yokes, subframe etc...if you have a look at Rick's (porndog) build you'll get an idea.
£ for £ powder coating wins for me over spray painting :peace:

So there's 3 sets looking done in the HRC gold? Might be worth there while to get the right RAL code powder in at this rate!

Well if you really want to know how far to go depends on £££££ I've had the lowers, subframe, yokes, clip ons, screen brace, exhaust hanger, some brackets and clips oh and my engine is completely stripped and away for media blasting. When it comes back that will be going for coating too. I have had my swingarm done in the past which looks nice. But just depends how far away from standard you want to go.

Got my wheels back today. Pretty chuffed with them. Some pics here. Any of the local lads can call in and have a look if they need sometime.
