Derestricting NC35

Hi All,

My other half has a NC35 96 model, and its been off the road for some years, i got it back on the road last year after much fettling.

Now after it's been ridden a bit i'd like to derestrict it. I've seen a few options but i don't know which i should use.

Which is better? a resistor in the clock connector & resistor in ecu, seen another suggestion that a wire should be placed between a orange wire somewhere and the battery?

Also i thought it was restricted in the clocks, so was thinking of just getting a speedo healer thingy to go between the speedo cable and clock, so it never reaches the 180kph on the speedo.

The bike is pretty much standard.

What option would you guys suggest?

Also i've read a battery upgrade (as the one that is in is fryed so needs replacing) which battery do i need to get my hands on?

Any help is much appreciated.

There's been a couple of derestriction boxes on ebay. I bought one for £7 it just plugs in. As far as battery goes I would go for the YTX9 which is higher power as the rvf has the lights on all the time and if you have an allarm also the battery runs down quick.

Forget all those stupid derestriction boxes, all you need do connect the orange/blue wire to +12v source. Best to do it behind the clocks and tap it into the +12v igniton feed.

That is of course if it isnt restricted by the carbs, if so just pull the carbs off and remove the thin washers from the inlet rubbers.

I don't think it has ever been restricted via the carbs.

Is the YTX9-BS a direct replacement? i.e. will it fit straight in the original hole?

Sorry for slightly noobish questions i just want to get it right before i go buying new batteries & messing around with wires.

Ok guys correct me if im wrong here but you dont need resistors for the 35 do you? all ive ever done is connect the orange/blue wire to +12v.

Yes the battery will go straight in, do yourself a favour and buy all your parts from rick oliver (do a search), that way your get all the right advice with it ;)

Rick O sent me a 3 pin plug with a resistor soldered in [ across 2 wires, green left spare] to fit into the loom to the speedo for my nc35, the same as the one for my nc30.

I don't use a resistor, never have.

hey, ive derestricted my nc30 by cutting away that tab in the clocks. can this method also be used to derestrict an nc35? thanks
