new oil filter is smaller than old one

bought a genuine Honda oil filter today but it's about 1cm shorter in length than the one currently on the bike (which isn't a Honda item). Will that matter? Why's it shorter?

Nothing. They just updated the design. Fear not.
It don't matter if i'm fixin' it or ridin' it.
