Get stopped by the police you have a defective braking system, it's 3 points minimum and a fine.

I was going to say the same thing; it's not worth the risks to be honest! Look for a cheap(ish) replacement; lots of different models share the same discs, so you're bound to find a suitable one!

think its time to extend that overdraft dude and get some new ones :) .

as for the police, how would they know? as far as you are concerned its an early model nc30 with single disc, and if they point out the disk holes in wheel in other side, well its a late spec nc30 wheel where they have twin discs. what are they gonna do, come on this forum and ask us lot if he is telling porkies, lol. just look at some on the custon hayabusas with single front disk setup, its hardly illegal there.

try geoff or graeme france, often seen them sell used fronts with life in em around the £70 mark. i wouldnt ride around with one disk. its one o most important part of bike, and a bad time o year, you might be fcuked if you have an accident. they are more scrupulous on checking it over.

most of those are in america though. and i have a feeling their probably not used regularly in wind, rain, ice and snow.

Personally I wouldn't take the risk, but it's up to you.

yeh i doubt your going to be pulled for having a single disc, more likely is if you park up at a bike meet etc and a cop comes round and you can clearly see the wheel is ment to have both discs but only one is there.

Surley removing one disc isnt any different to changing disc type, or calipers for smaller ones bigger ones, or anything else for that matter. We dont have type aproval in this country (thank god) so as long as it meets current MOT requirements (ie passes the brake test, which mine does with one fingure on the lever) i wouldnt of thought the cops could do naf all.

If the cops in the UK are anything like they are in Aus, they wouldn't have a clue what they're looking at anyway. I can't tell you how many times I've had fines written up as CBR250! And that's mostly from bike cops who should know better. I doubt any of them would pick up that a disc and caliper is missing.

I'd just worry about what might happen in the event of an accident. Especially if the bike needs to be examined and you have disc-holes but no disc.

This would probably class as the bike has been 'modified' and even if it is ok it could still be a right ballache if somone argues that it could have made a difference etc.

I know there are a lot of if's and and's but you must remember sod's law!

Plenty of bikes have a single disc but mounting points for a second disc.
