NC30 rear disc removing question.

Hey guys, i managed to remove the rear hub nut..... with my bare hands.. i am not even kidding. i sprayed a little shock & unlock on it thinking it would be rock solid... and tried to see it with my hand. and away it went..... i cant believe that! it didnt even need unstaking.

anyway.... i need to slacken the pinch bolt so i can take off the hub to change the brake disc, but i cant get the bolt to move. i tried everything, tried to even hit my socket wrench with the rubber mallet and it still doesnt budge.... any help? am i missing something? is there something i need to unstake on that too?

No, the pinch bolt just tightens onto the brake hose guide. It shouldn't be silly tight or you'd never be able to adjust the chain. It's what, 15, 17mm or something like that? Can't remember, I just recognise the spanner that fits!

yeah i remember undoing that once and adjusting the chain... but i must have overtightened it. but i didnt tighten it by hitting it with the hammer. so i dont see why it doesnt get un-tight with hitting one

okay done all the hub stuff and changed the rear wheel. now for the shock... i see on the guide it says dont use a rear paddock stand.... why? it makes no sense.

i do not have an abba stand.... so my only option is a paddock, and a couple of jacks like i used to remove the hub.

Q. What will happen if the bike is on the paddock stand and you remove the shock?

A. The rear of the bike will crash down onto the wheel and probably slice your hand off if you're not quick enough.



Best option if you don't have an Abba stand is to remove the rear plastics and suspend the subframe so the weight is off the rear of the bike and the rear wheel is just touching the floor.

okay, well i have my rear wheel off at the moment and i think im gonna keep it off to get the shock off easier. where can i place the jacks? i place them under the sump to raise the front off.. but where to put them now?

Stick a thick piece of wood under your subframe and put the jacks under that, or metal bar, whatever will hold it really.

May have to put something under the jacks too though, but it seems your best bet to me, just make sure its all secure. Might be worth tying the wood to the subframe to stop it slipping

forgot to mention. the subframe is off the bike too. only thing on is the swingarm, hub, rear caliper disc etc.
