Grab rails?

Post by flyn2k » Thu Oct 02, 2008 11:18 am

Hi all, been a while since I posted on here...
Recently I have been trying to get the Mrs into bikes, the idea is for her to get interested and therefore give me more time and excuses to ride!
Anyway, shes not too happy on the back of my NC23 at the moment and I think a grab rail would help, I have seen RVFs with pillion handles, any idea if I could fit something similar to mine?

never seen grab rails on a CBR400. but doesnt mean to say you cant get some fabricated.

BTW that strap on the pillion seat IS NOT for the pillion! its there to help getting the bike on to a rear paddock stand..

Hey flyn2k sorry not much help I know but there is a mate of mine who once produced stainless grab rails for all the CBR/VFR 400 bikes some years ago and what made them so good was the fact you could slide them off and use them as a small temporary stand on the rear wheel. He did produce and sell quite a few and even had a piece about it in MCN. Due to getting my NC29 recently I did ask him if he had any lying around and he said he may have one or two lying around his garage but was unsure what model they fit. But at least you know there was an after market grab rail available at some point.

has anyone approached renntec about getting a grabrail/rack done for the 400s?

i know touring and pillions arent uppermost in most peoples minds but i for one would love to have a rack on the 4. Camping and touring would be so much easier!
Too many bikes, so little time!

Let us know how you get on with the "love handles" and does it stop your pillion nutting you every gear change!

pillion pals work fine for acceletation, they are superb in that regard, but for braking they dont really work.on accelarating there is tension on the handles but on braking birds still give you a good rattle in the back of the head
