Lapping tool

I have now got the heads off my NC30 to give it some love and some lapping but when I did this before on my other one the double ended wooden lapping tool was too big and was pain in the proverbial. So can anyone suggest a suitable tool or gadget for the lapping of the valves?

i stick a bit of pipe on the tappet end of the valve and attach it to a small electric drill or screwdriver. Just keep changing direction a few times.

I do the same but clean tappet and use blue tac

No you work from the face of the valve

Now I'm lost. If someone said tappet end I'd say it was the part that goes through the spring held in ace with the collets with the shim on top with the rocker arm.

Some people attach a piece of tube to the valve stem, and pull it into the seat to lap it in. Other people get a tool that sticks to the face of the valve, and you push it against the seat.

Sorry Scott I hadn't read ians reply properly do what ever way suits you,

The way I've done it in the passed was clean the face of the valve, and stick a big blob of blue tack in the valve face, then I had a 1/2" drive adaptor for my drill (18v Dewalt) and rammed it into the bluetac and span back and fourth for a few minutes on each port.

That's a cool tool. It's ok if you have lots of engines to do lol. But a good gadget for the toolbox.
