Battery terminals

Post by speedy231278 » Tue Oct 30, 2012 12:57 pm

Another stupid question as usual. The thread on the standard battery types used on NCs is M6, isn't it?

Most batteries have M6 bolts. I'm pretty sure the YTX7s do :peace:

Yeah m6 as I had to use longer ones to add a few extra wires.

Ta. I'm going to get some half decent ring terminals for a direct feed from the reg/rec, but didn't want to end up with ones with the wrong size hole! Most of the crimp ones look a bit flimsy to me. The length of the bolt is only an issue if you don't raise the little captive block in the connector. What a silly bloody arrangement that is - my bolts are about a fag paper too short, so it's blind luck if they pick up or not unless you stick something under the blocks. Might invest in new ones anyway. As I understand it, you should use bolts specifically made for the purpose, as standard ones will corrode due to the the charging process, or is that just a ploy to sell expensive bolts?

If I end up replacing terminal bolts, I use brass ones.
