Re: Rear shock
My motogp skills eroded when i past 30 so it will be general use.Neosophist wrote:The later type rear shock isn't a bad shock, if you can find a copmany to overhaul it for a decent price then it will make a world of difference to a tired old one.Triplespeed wrote:While in on the subject has anyone overhauled a rear shock and if so was it worth it or particulary difficult?
It depends on what you are going to be using the bike for, just for general use and for somone without MotoGP esq skills then the original shock in good condition shuold do just fine.
The only work i was going to do was a to measure the free standing spring height, new seals and new oil with a clean up assuming all these parts are available, then again is it nitrogen or oil? I have no idea. I have not had a good look round but i thought it woukd be best to ask on here first rather than charge in armed with my toolbox. I did the same with an alternator when i was in my teens and since then i have been a bit wary.
Also the cost of the parts will have to be a factor as with some of these jobs its worth looking at getting a company to do it as you say which is something i will also be looking into.
Any idea of somewhere i could get parts or a reliable company that coukd do the work for me?
