NC30 front disc rotor options

I think the bike in this thread is wearing EBC discs. If not, the condition mimics what I'd find a couple of days after riding in heavy rain.....

I will vouch for the EBC x disks. Not that cheap, but so far all good.

I've not used them on the road, nor had them for a few years to see how they age, but 'nuff to say that in a race I recently braked so hard to avoid a 600 that passed me, then braked far earlier than I do right in front of me that I had the rear end in the air. First time. Now I know I can brake that hard. :-)

EBC X disk (6 pin) and SBS pads. Good enough for me.

You'll need some RRX* silver blade calipers and some 310mm rotors. < stealth do some, RC30 are a direct bolt on..



*90% sure it is they - came off a bike with 310mm std rotors which would bbe 1998 and 1999 bikes RRX and RRY

It has been known for a long time you can do a "large disc conversion" for the NC30.

Calipers are not so bad to get some, i think your existing ones will work with correct adapters but the choice of discs is limited, there are lots of 310 discs but the centre parts are different. I think the RC30 line up, you can of corse get someone to change the innners over to get the outer section that you want.

I do have to ask though, where are you running this bike that you need such giant brakes for?

I have stock 30 discs, stock calipers and M/C and braided lines. Granted I did a full overhaul of all the seals and have decent pads but the bike stops like a beast.

There is a really challeneging mountain road that many people ride like crazy on, long fast straights followed by insane bends and twists that test the brakes out really well if you push it and I don't have any issues with the brakes, my own lack of skill shows up way before I would need better brakes than even stock, which are really good for the 30.

The ones I had were Pro-Lite, they seem to have been redesigned and renamed as the X series. Maybe the different use has something to do with it, maybe I was unlucky and got some that were down on quality. They came from the official online EBC outlet so I doubt they were knock-offs. Still, the difference in design might have a bearing in it, who knows? Anyway, it's good for you that yours are behaving, as as you say, they're not cheap!
