Linkage Bushings

Post by iDemonix » Mon Sep 17, 2012 2:05 pm

Was an advisory on my last MOT and I'm replacing my shock atm so needs doing.

Anyone know which bushings to use for the lower linkage? If you lift the rear end up you can hear it click from side to side, I remember the mechanic showing me.

I'm not quite sure which bit counts as the lower linkage, but do you mean the bush that goes on the bottom of the shock? Part 52451-MA0-000 according to the fiche. Probably best to check on the document library. Page 86 of http://www.400greybike.com/files/NC30.L ... Manual.pdf

I'm hoping I don't find anything untoward when I do mine, all those seals and bearings add up to a fortune, never mind the hassle of pressing the buggers out and in! Just over six quid ex VAT from DSS, 5-7 day expected lead time for this bit.

Replace the complete triangle joint with a RVF one, it has bearings instead of bushes.

That will change the ride height? is a longer stand needed?

You can also replace the vfr bush with the rvf bearing part.

I'm struggling to source an RVF linkage though and the MOT has ran out and I'd like to get it done today or tomorrow (the linkage, not the MOT).

I know the RVF bearing would be better, but as I'm pressed for time, if I took the rear linkage off, can I buy the bushings from anywhere? Ideally I'd like to buy them today. I know there's a Honda dealer nearby but I doubt they'd stock bushings for a 20 year old bikes rear suspension.

Do you have a hydrualic press? If not forget doing it yourself. Fitting a rvf triangle joint won't change the ride height, your have to fit dog leg aswell to change the ride height. If you want a set of rvf linkages I have a spare set, £50 delivered

Cheers Munky but I don't really want to spend that much.

I rang Honda but they said they don't have any, is it a generic size that anywhere else in/around Nottingham is likely to have? Would like to pick one up today if possible. Or is there a size of bearing I can buy that I can fit to the linkage I have?
