Hi there,

I'm thinking about buying a Scorpion endcan for my RVF, which should be a piece of cake to change out for the current standard one.

Will I need to do anything with the jetting at all?

EDIT: For me at least, I have had to up the main jets.

Can companies make the claim that they don't need re-jetting, but essentially the bike runs with less back pressure with no excessive baffling. bikes invariably run lean.
the least you can do it re-synchronize them if budget don permit re-jettiing, altho there are re-jetting guides on this site.
PM me your addy and i'll send you over a document on drilling the slides for the NC30 though

For a start he has an NC35...

Anyway, our RVF ran rich with an ART can

I'd not do anything without at least getting a base run to see where you sit at, then start to meddle.

Hi there,

Can you point me towards the guides please? All I can see are forums for each make/type but nothing in the way of write-ups or guides - or am I just being plain dumb? :D

As I understand things, the carbs for the NC30 and the NC35 are fundamentally the same so much of the information should cross over?

I run a Scorpion can on my NC31, with a K&N air filter, and haven't played with the jetting at all. I can report that the mid range flat spot that was there before has gone, and there's a definite increase in response and power.

97 RON premium fuel helps too!

DO NOT DRILL THE NC35 SLIDES. I run '35 carbs on my '30 and rather than drill the slides, get in touch with another forum member by the name of Rick Oliver and he'll supply you with HRC replica slides that will do the same job. The write-up that Declan has was done my myself a few years ago if I'm not mistaken and it is NC30 specific. Although the carbs are interchangeable between both bikes, they are far from similar.

NC35 NC30
Metal velocity stacks Rubber velocity stacks
2 long stacks, 2 short stacks Stack all the same size
Moon shaped slides Round slides
Come with 108 jets as standard 110's (UK) 115f/118r (Jap from '91 0n)

etc etc

I fitted a Scorpion Ti. end-can on my RVF...10min and it was on and for performance...no improvement really. It is louder and sounds the dogs bollox though.

Very correct. Completely different kettle of fish! Why, oh why didn't I just HRC the NC35 carbs instead of dealing with the black art of NC30 carb tuning! Because it's more rewarding, or maybe I'm slightly daft - not sure :)
