nc30 - coughs and splutters at low revs under load
hey all
my 30 coughs and splutters and generally runs roughish when at low revs under load. i.e. when i'm pulling away. This makes it a pig to ride, as when i'm pulling away from lights, roundabouts etc. i have to give it a big handful and it only moves slowly, then it'll suddenly pick up and rev and take off - this makes it hard if i'm turning at the time and the roads are getting a bit slippy, and i don't know when it's suddenly going to go.
It ticks over fine, starts fine, and when revving high it runs fine and pulls well.
It's only recently started doing it, get used about once, twice a week. Runs at just a sliver over the 90 degrees on the temp guage.
any thoughts? a '93 import nc30 with 28k kilometers on the clock. that's 17.5k miles.

I'd be starting by pulling out the carbs and giving them a good cleaning, particulaly the pilot jets & emulsion tubes. Check float heights and pilot screw settings ( 2-2.5 turns out) also.
