Rad Cap Pressures

So what was the problem??

I had my rad fan wired up the wrong way round, hence it was blowing air through the radiator instead of sucking it through.

Perhaps I should check mine!!! As mines been overheating loads and with the fan on it drains the battery and then we are fooked! Did you just put some paper there to see if excuse the pun suck or blow!

Actually the fan is quite strong, I put my hand in front of my rad and felt whether it was being sucked towards it or not.

It's not going to grab your hand drastically but you can feel a tiny pull.

If it's been over-heating loads then you can also look at other things in this order

1. How dirty is your bottom rad?
2. When was the last time it had a rad flush/coolant change?
3. Is your thermostat working correctly?
4. Is your rad cap in good working order? (it can be faulty and not pressurize the system enough)
5. Has one of your head gaskets blown?

Head gasket really is the last thing to check when you're totally stumped.

Plus I don't know if you've got a manual fan switch fitted or not, if you haven't then maybe the fan isn't coming on at all as the fan sensor is known to fail.

Done your check off list well most of it. Bottom rad flushed out and through the fins from both sides. Obviously changed the coolant when this was done. Thermostat is a possibility rad cap isn't secure well it is but sometimes notice its sprayed on my right knee, the fan cuts in and out as I can hear it when pulling up and taking my helmet off and hitting the kill switch with the ignition still on. Got a rad cap coming so will just check to see if the fan is sucking air through the rad as that's easy enough to do. Cheers.
