Which rear shock for nc35?

Post by racingt »

Hi guys, my bike is still running stock Showa on rear with 18k on clock, but it needs either servicing or replacing.
I've ridden an rvf with wp rear and the difference was night and day. Do I need to go wp/maxton/ohlins route or can it be rebuilt? Or hagons?
I should say this is a road bike, not track. Spirited solo riding on bumpy country roads for me!
Advice gratefully received. Offers of shock upgrades also gratefully received!

i have ridden with a hagon and thought it was shite frankly and no better than the original item - however i am 15 stone.
i run a maxton and hyperpro front springs in the 35 and it works real nice. quality is not cheap though

Cheers CRM, just the feedback I needed.
I would rather save longer than buy something not right. The wp equipped bike handled as well as any of the new bikes I have had and I want to emulate that.
More feedback welcome!

i think if you a 10stone whippet looking for a budget replacement then the hagon will be fine, but for me it was really no better - dare i say worse damping than the knackered one i took off.

Consider the nitron offerings from rick oliver too. good quality shocks.
or see what aly bailey has kicking around, he always has a maxton spare i think. i like maxton stuff, and it has nothing to do with the fact i live less than 5 mins walk from them ;)

A lot of the guys who race around here use a Penski which is what I'm using.
