Rear Brakes on NC30

Hi all i have an NC30 i replaced ther rear Pads as soon as i got it & with in 2000km they were totally gone, i feel the brakes probably weren't change but need to know if any1 else has some input about that, second question is how does 1 remove the rear disc from the bike does it require loosening the bolt on the Sproket side to take the whole axle off? Not sure at all how to get to the disc?

maybe your using the rear brake too much? you should hardly ever need to use it?

I have read that it is possible on the VFR400 NC30 to change the rear brake disk without removing the rear hub, but it is impossible to do this on the NC35 RVF400 as the mounting plate is larger and the entire hub requires removal.

double check that the piston is not seized and can be pushed fully home with no problems.other than that it all pretty much boils down to how much you use the rear brake and how fast you are going when you use it.

I've gone through 1 set of rear brake pads on my VFR750 in 40k...[1]
My SV I replaced them at 27k because I replaced the disc (after bending it by accident).

If you've got through a set in 2kKm then either you are using the back brake *far* too much or something is very wrong.

it turns out the brake pads where never changed have proof of that, my biggest question is how can i get that back disc off so i can skim it? any suggestions?

My mate said it's just possible to remove the NC30 disc with out removing the hub, you need to remove the wheel, caliper and then undo the disc nuts & bolts. When I tried it on the NC35 I used a cut down bit of allen key with a spanner on it to hold the bolts while I removed the nuts as you can't get a full allen key in behind there.

Then you should be able to wiggle the disc over the hub (this is the bit where you get stuck on the NC35).

Yes you can take it of as the guys have said above just wiggle it about and maybe give it a whack with a block of wood and a hammer

There can't be much metal you can remove from a motorbike disc before you reach the specified minimum thickness; be careful! Do you know what the minimum thickness is? And you'll need to measure the thickness of your disc at the thinnest point to determine whether or not you can skim.

I just replaced the pads on my NC31; the rear disc was quite scored / worn, but it still works fine now that the new pads have bedded in. How bad is your disc?

Wiggle it, it's fidley but it'll come off. It is probably easier for you to dismantle the lot?

As for skimming the disc, rear specs are as follows.

6mm is STD thickness, 5mm is minimum thickness with 0.30mm runout.
