Brake Pads

Post by philfingers »

Well, I changed the Kyoto pads in the NC30 for some genuine Honda Nissin HH ones. What a difference, I could tell the first time I pulled the lever. They're not even run in yet and soooo much better! Thanks Rick Oliver for supplying them

I run EBC HH pads on my RVF, and when I changed the front discs and put new pads in, it felt like I was going to do a forward roll! There's nothing quite like the feel from a nice new set of pads, especially when they're decent ones. Are the Nissin ones expensive? I've not got to the front brakes yet for DSS prices on my boredom driven 'see how much it costs to build and RVF from spares' project, but CMS want 113 Euros for two pairs (£106!!). I've not paid more than £12-15 a pair for EBC187HHs from eBay in a decade! :-)

2 sets of Nissin HH’s from Rick Oliver for the NC30 were £51 delivered
2 sets of EBC HH’s off ebay for the KR1-S (last week also) were £35 delivered (they do EBC HH’s for the NC30 for £37 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-Sintered- ... 3a782c8378 )
I’ve jet to ride the KR1-S with new pads, still waiting for the rebuilt shock to come back

£37 isn't too bad, but I'd be willing to bet you could do better if you were patient. I tend to buy consumables and other 'might be handy one day' bits at random if they come up cheap (my spare carbs cost £25, immaculate rad fan and shroud a tenner, and very tidy sprocker carrier £20). I have two sets of front pads (4 pairs) kicking about. For some reason I thought the CBR/SP gold calipers used the same pads, so if I ever get around to fitting those some new pads for those will not be cheap, haven't found any bargains yet....
