m-box/black box?

Post by tom4 »

hello

On my last trackday, my nc30 would not go over 180kph. thanks to the forum, I learned I could disconnect the speedometer, and correct the problem.
But now, i'd like to have speed AND go over 180 kph.
I found on ebay some kph/mph converter, that are said to do the job. did anyone tried?

I also read that a M-box plugged on the cdi would correct it too, but I could only find some used one on ebay. Does anybody knows where to get a new one?

thanks

Yes the blue KMH to MPH convertor will do the job or you could do this mod:

total waste of money, open the clocks and trim away the disk that sits before the speedo face that turns with the needle and breaks the beam.
restriction then gone

Agree!

Favourite method. Nothing to fail or come loose, plus you can tell withotu taking the clocks apart..

Mod the speedo, it costs nothing but a little of your time. Another reason for not using a convertor is that you trip meter will then read in miles not kms, so you'll have to make a note of the kms, then do the sums on what it reads afterwards if you do servicing by distance rather than by time. If you prefer miles for the speed it might be worth getting a dial with MPH on it to fit at the same time if it's not already been done. There are a few threads on here about where to get them from and how to fit.

I know what you mean, but it is easier than it seems!
Have a look at a guide on my website as it has photos of an opened speedo, as well as step by step guidance on how to do it!
