Arse biscuits parts 1 and 2
my first ever race on my new Novice licence and Brands last week was Arse Biscuits part one.
Best KR1 engine blew a crank seal and was only producing 42.5hp, which resulted in the installation of standard KR1 engine, which lasted about 3 laps in the poring rain before its gearbox exploded as I was going into clearways (off the GP circuit)
Arse biscuits part two was when I found out that the NC30 engine I built had leaking valve stem seals - (serves me right for buying a patern gasket set). So today, I removed the engine, both heads and all the valves.
looked at the stem seals under a magnifying glass and they look really poor quality.
Off too WeMoto tomorrow to pick up (another) new set.
.....I bet it's rain non stop as soon as I get it back together.

Re: Arse biscuits parts 1 and 2
I was racing that weekend, proper grim weather on sunday
Just a pointer about the pattern part sets, well..........they are s#*t
ive tried them twice + both aweful, the valve stem seals are hard + the head gaskets are terrible, they all come from a trade company called hi-level which everything then comes from china + is just cheap + nasty
outer cover gaskets are fine but then again there is nothing realy being demanded from them
For the extra cost ill always go genuine stem seals + head gaskets
For the future if you get stuck with NC30 or bits im the blue + orange NC30 in the 400's, was #62 at the weekend

I am aware that Wemoto and Rick O sell stem seals - has anyone tried these seals and are they any good, or are the best ones the (stupidly expensive) Honda OE ones?

Re: Arse biscuits parts 1 and 2
took the NC30 engine out the frame last weekend, removed heads, 16 valves, stem seals, installed new stem seals, re-assembled engine, back in frame, start it up and after a few minutes no smoke - Yay.
Temp gauge doesn't work - Boo!
Fix Temp gauge - Yay!
Tacho then doesn't work - Boo!
Fix Tacho - Yay!
All seems to be working, take it out for its first run in 10 months and all seems to go Ok - Yay!
Except the rear left indicator isn't working - (minor) Boo!
At last, I'm making progress, (just as the summer is about to end)
