A quick hello and a question about RC30 brakes
Hi I'm somewhat of a newbie to bikes as I've developed an interest quite late in life ( OK 30 isn't too late...). I've recently bought an NC30 with a pretty big spec list, some of which are ZXR forks, RC30 front discs and GSXR 6 pot calipers.
The problem I've got is the discs are rattling. Now I know this is not so much of an issue with them, however they are getting pretty unbearable! I took it to my local specialist and it seems the buttons have been shimmed with circlips to try and get more life out of them? In all honesty I'm not familiar with the concept of floating discs but I'm advised that they need replacing. And at £230 each that's a pretty bitter pill to swallow!
Now I'm a new rider and in all honesty this kind of setup is wasted on me at my level of ability at the moment, may be useful when/if I get to trackday level. My main question is, is this setup reversible? E.g. can I run NC30 discs with the GSXR calipers and ZXR forks? Or would the whole lot have to be changed?

RC30 discs are larger if i recall, so no i dont think so

You can buy from Stealth products a set of discs that are NC30 firtment and are 310mm rotors.
There is not a lot you can do with the ZXR forks on there. Perhaps an outlet would be to see if another of our forum members, Rick Oliver, can assist. He has an NC30 with 310mm rotors on ZXR forks if I remember it right.

I guess it all depends on how everything is fitted together. I'm not familiar with the ZXR forks, but quite often when using different calipers there is a mounting plate used to get the caliper in the right position relative to the disc, so this might have had a bearing on the choice of disc. Anyway, I've found a couple of sources quoting 310mm as being the disc size, so those for the NC30/NC35/early blades, CBR600F etc won't fit as they are 296mm.
Having had a look on http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/ it seems that the 98-99 Blade had 310mm discs before going to 330, and all years of CBR600RR bar 07 and 08 (which I think is an error as they look the same in the pics and it would seem a bit odd to change the size for two years). You *might* find the CBR600RR discs fit, but I would advise measuring the ones you have to see what size they are and what the offset is. There would be nothing more annoying that having discs the right diameter and then finding you can't put the calipers back on!

The problem is with the wheel fitment isn't it
The ZXR forks use the std ZXR calipers but wiht an NC30 wheel and so you are then stymied by the small PCD of the dosc bolt fitment. Only RC30 rotors at 310mm are a direct fit.
Carawrd eng - used to be on here - uses Stealth to put 310mm rotors onto the std carriers.
I looked at this a long time back..and ended up buying complete Stealth rotors in std size ( was after 310mm as I bought some blade calipers that looked like they took the 298m..but were for the 310mm instead)
My Stealth discs are still going strong

Think I'll have to take a look into some of these options above. However Looks likely I'm about to take a hit in the wallet :/ . Serves me right for getting sucked into the big spec haha

Them forks look too raked out to me so I'd check that, other than that - probably just about worth 2k to be fair. Should be good once you get it sorted.
On the discs - if they are ferodo race discs - they may supposed to rattle as fully floating rotors often do. Call them and ask. They may well sell oversized bobbins to replace (I know EBC do)

The cheaper option, if the discs are knackered, would be to buy a zxr400-H/L front wheel & spacers (around £75) then a pair of standard / ebc 310mm kawasaki discs (£100-£150) - nice & easy to do, saving a lot of time & headache but you'll have to put up with a 3 spoke front wheel.
I have personally interchanged between both on an 30' with zxr400 forks, you just need to make sure you buy the non speedo drive spacers.

Brake discs £400, brake pads £40, six pot caliper seal and piston kit £150. Having a sore arse after being shafted with the above... Priceless!
