Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
nice picture EC
I have no idea what it is, but it looks like an oil restrictor with that small hole in the centre.
Email that pic to BDK they will know.

Pretty sure it is an oil restrictor , 3TJ parts book , no 1HX-15138-00
it sits in an oring no 93210-12152
It is between the upper and lower cases so you will need to split them again, bummer !!!

Great news
At least I can sort the cam chain while I'm down there .... and I left in the two bolts that are only accessable when you take the barrels off .... happy days

Every cloud has a silver lining, EC. You can always take the opportunity to fit the new seal rather than run the risk with the Franken version.

Good point. In my defense it's the first engine I've built so I guess I'll remember what this is and where it goes.

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
Last night I tidied up the garage, built a table / bench and put the engine on it. TBH the table is a bit to big, I can still get the bikes in easily but I think I might get rid of it after the engines done, next Christmas then

So, the clutch holding tool turned up today so I could make a start. The one thing I didn't want to do was take the barrels off mainly because I don't like getting them on with the piston rings, so thank you to the inventor of universal links

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
Had a look about and I've also been onto Simply Bearings to try and find an oilseal. You can get a pain rotary seal 26x40x8_TC easily but it doesn't have the locating 2x2mm flange on the back. I don't know if it's possible to add one to the the plain seal or not, but I think I'm going to go with Frankenseal for now.
Oh and the barrels have to come off because of the rear camchain guide.
