If you wanted to try that you could use a spacer (trial and error measurements) on one end of the spring which would effectively increase the spring rate. I can't remember how it looks where each end of the spring seats but I'm sure something could be made up to fit.
Kev: do you normally set most rvf carbs up with no standard washer on the needles?

Only worked on my nc35 carbs cammo and i removed the washer to lower the needles but its still not enough, bikes with single can tyga or standard exhausts may fuel different to the twin stack system i have fitted.

Im going to be running an rlr sp1 system so i'll give the spacer a go when i get round to it.

This all makes perfect sense but why would hrc spec a softer spring? I could understand it if the hrc kit for the rvf had a massive list of engine mods but it doesn't have any, engines remains stock its just the carbs and induction that change.

Hrc bike is designed to run at high revs all the time - my race bike has a horrible flat spot at 5.5k-6.5k but on track i never drop below 7k long enough for it to be a prob.
7k up it pulls like a train.
Hrc kit means you need to ride it like a stroker

Surely the rvf has race pistons and cams?

yep got all that but what advantage is the softer spring giving when your WOT? The spring affects the midrange doesn't it???? So why bother changing the rate at all for a race bike.
I'm pretty sure by the time the rvf400 was out there was no more TT-F3 class just SS/SP hence why the rvf never got the F3 engine kit.
