float bowl gaskets

Post by r1kster34 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 4:21 pm

hi im wondering if anyone here can help, i have nc23 1989, recentley we removed the carbs as one was sticking so they were stripped to be cleaned etc, we noticed the gaskets looked worn but thought theyd be ok, we put all together only for it to leak :( . Does anyone know of cheap place to them from iv tried from motorbike places around mine they say cant get etc cuss its ie ither bikes too old or its an import so they cant get them, ive heard of sealants but cant find any of them ither... any help would be appreciated the cheaper the better.

Have you tried Lings or David Silver?

This will save you a few quid and they work well.

Oh and i sealed the carb bowls with hylomar blue, works well so no need for new o rings at the mo. if i had a spare £60 i would get some as resealing every time i open them is a ball ache.

Rick Oliver (member on here) sells o-ring replacements for about 7 quid a set of 4 for the nc30 carb float bowls (same fitment as nc23), they work well.

i took the carb apart and found the rubber that goes around the bottom of the float bowl was split, so looks like ive got replace them guy i spoke to at kestrels in cov said to contact graeme franks, i noticed in previous posts he used to sell a set of 4 for 15 quid so im thinking be best to replace all 4 instead of one.

I can't vouch for Graeme's but I've used Rick's carb bowl o-rings for nc30's and they'll fit the nc23 carbs perfectly (the 2 models use the same carb body), only £6 for the set of 4. The genuine honda gaskets are very expensive.

Rick's price list and contact details are in this link: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=26174

It's always best to replace the whole set.
