two quick questions nc29
hey!!
just two questions:
1. does the pilot screw control air or fuel on nc29, my bike has a constant rich running problem, i tried screwing the pilot screw in but it didnt help i.e make the mix leaner, spoilt brand new plugs, is it air screw? i.e screw it out for leaner mix? spark plugs always dark black and bike will stop sparking really quick
2. maybe related to the rich issue, my TPS doesnt work, will this result in a rich mix?
really want to get this bike on the road, any help greatly appreciated!!

The screw will alter the fuel . Screw in will make it leaner, out richer.
My 29 was rich, it was blocked air inlets ( by the inlet trumpet there are four small brass inlets , under the cover that secures the trumpet) if these are blocked it'll give really black plugs. Missing TPS shouldn't do that.
Try blowing them through with compressed air and some carb cleaner.

Re: two quick questions nc29
hey there
thanks for the quick reply, yeah ive cleaned the carbs out more times than i can count, including the air inlets
although the only thing i have to mention is that my carbs dont actually have those brass trumpets, just some black plastic mounts for attatchment of the air filter, but like nothing that would cause air to be blocked, if i just screwed the pilot screws in all the way do you think it would kind of make up for the richness?
cheers!

un-screw the black plastic bits the air box mounts to ( 4 screws) , under there you'll see four little brass inlets

Re: two quick questions nc29
ok so you might be onto something, i have tried blasting carb cleaner down each one of those brass inlets, the one that leads to the main jet is fine, sprays out quite nice, the other three either only partially squirt out or try force back out the inlet, is that because im using aerosol as opposed to just air? or are they just blocked? also do you know which inlet is for which jet? primary etc.. and how do i clean them out if air doesnt work? i assume they should all be squirting out the other end like i see with the main jet?
thanks heaps, i hope this is the problem

Re: two quick questions nc29
An air line should manage to blow them through. Mine was blocked on number 4 carb , i ended up soaking them over night in cleaner! Or a fine piece of wire like the centre strand of a clutch cable will fit in there.
I'd start with an air line. (Oh and a foot ball pump fits the hole lovely if you have one)

To be honest i put the pump in the hole, them filled the pump with Coke and left it over night! Lol
Have you seen what that stuff does to an old 1p piece??
Then flushed it with petrol.

hahahaha now thats ingenuity, i have a couple that seem bogged up so i might try and figure out another way to do it so i can do them all at once, plus im using an air compressor which i dont really want to fill with coke...it would make sense for this to be the problem tho, i took it for a couple of rides during which i was high revs the whole way and she ran well, which corresponds to the main jet air intake not being clogged, but the richness could easily be coming from those other inlets being bogged

Re: two quick questions nc29
so the coke actually worked really well!!! got three of the four blocked inlets open, im using a pressure meter on the air compressor to gauge how blocked each is, three are reading the same reading with only one having a much higher one so ill keep trying to free it up, might get a higher pressure compressor and give it a go
