Speedo Cable Adapter

Post by g1b50n »

Would I able to use this for a digital speedo pickup. I have a datatool gear indicator fitted to my NC30 which has a hall effect sensor fitted on the front wheel which uses 6 magnets pressed into the brake disc bolts and is crap and wont allow the Indicator to programme correctly lol. I need something either driven from the speedo drive or the rear wheel to programme it. It has 3 wires. IGN+, NEG- and a SIGNAL wire which goes to the gear indicator.
The adaptor in the link above is an Acewell device and seems to only have two wires. I cant seem to work out how it will wire up and what wires will be what, will they both be signal wires? Or will one wire be IGN+ and the other wire Earth???? Can someone please help. Will it work in conjuction with my datatool gear indicator which only requires 1x signal wires for speed. or will the signals produced by this adaptor be completely different?

Your best option might be to keep the datatool system and try replacing the six magnets with larger/stronger ones to improve the signal quality.

I say this because your alternative idea of using the speedo cable drive sensor unit will work but not without some additional electronics to convert the two wire function to three.
