nc21 exhaust

i was wonering if anyone had considered cutting the rear downpipes so that the exhaust can be removed without dropping the engine?
obviously if there were any issues with the rear downpipes above the cut this would mean an engine drop but i beleive that the metal quality is much higher so would be less likely.
the collector boxes are now stupidly hard to get hold of so lots of reparing will be the way forwards soon or maybe even something made up.

i think that this may be a really good idea but i am a bit nervous about actually doing it. i have found a company who can provide me with the connector pipes to rejoin it.

should i go ahead and try it and if it all goes wrong will the pipes weld back together if needs be?

please can someone tell me it will be all ok!!!!

Do it!! If you have a welder and all doesn't go to plan you can just match it back up and weld it. Where abouts are you if you were local I'd be up for lending a hand?!

Many companies now do this with the aftermarket stainless steel collectors that are being made.

I also did the same to my NC24 in 2008.

It was easier to weld the exhaust with it off the engine, the exhaust nuts can be fiddly to do up as it's difficult to get in there.

with the nc21 you have to take the engine out, you can barely even see 1 of the nuts for the rear header pipes.

Perhaps if you get the rear-shock out of the way you'll have room.

BUT IVE WONDERED IF ITS POSSIBLE TO
REMOVE AND FIT COLLECTOR BOX BY REMOVING REAR SHOCK
WITHOUT HAVING TO DROP ENGINE

i did think about removing the rear shock but after close inspection part of the frame is what is mainly in the way, but it is a section that is welded and therefore imovable. i am looking at cutting the rear pipes near the bottom at a section which is parrallel to the ground. it is a short straight section this should then mean that i can remove the rest of the exhaust without dropping the engine.
i have ordered 2 short connector sections with clamps so that i can put these on the reseal the pipe when i have finished. i was thinking about using some assembly paste to seal these conections as it may be a bit hard to find any sort of gasket which will do the job as it is kind of a bodge up.
i was also planning on cleaning up and spray painting collector box and end can and i dont have the space to have an engine out for any lenght of time! we arent all blessed with workshopps, lol.
