brake upgrade question
hello all, ive decided to go down the cbr600rr brake caliper mod and i know its best to upgrade the master cylinder aswell but i find that the cbr m\c with the boxxy shape resivour rather ugly compared to the standard nc30 m\c , is there any other options of m\c that look simular to the nc30 and fit easy anougth ? also if i had different m\c to the calipers would i have problems ordering braided hoses?
thanks lee

Re: brake upgrade question
you are looking at the wrong m/c then amte - I havea fireblade one from an RRX - you can use that, an SP1 etc.
Any 5/8th sized should be bob on...
hoses - no worries - the std NC30 ones won't work as too short and wrong banjo angles

Re: brake upgrade question
Hey Lee,
You just need an mc with the same ratio as the 600rr M/C.
Then you just need to know how the banjo fits in and what banjo bolt you'll need.
Line length. Get some cut and doohickeyed by a lines company.
And away you go.
Edit:beaten to the punch

Re: brake upgrade question
You want to order "race type" lines, that way you get 2 lines, 1 to each caliper & then to the m/c rather than that joined up type.
You can order fireblade, cbr600rr or SP1/2 lines & they'll all be preetty much the same, as they all use the same caliper type.
I run SP1 calipers, SP1 lines & a blade m/c on my No1 nc30 but as CMSMJ1 says, ANY 5/8th's or 16mm+ m/c will work.
My No3 nc30 runs blade calipers & lines & a aprilia RSV 16mm brembo m/c, which is also very good.
You have many, many options & you can also run brembo goldline calipers, instead of nissins.
You just have to choose what you prefer & get the right adaptor brackets from Mr Rick O.

Re: brake upgrade question
The RR uses an 11/16" master cylinder. 5/8" is far more common and will probably do the trick. 14mm as used on an RVF won't do it.
Can you stretch to radial masters?

Re: brake upgrade question
I have 2002 firestorm calipers on (I believe they are the same as yours). I'm using the standard 14mm vfr M/C and it's awesome, tried fitting a 17mm one from an SP2 and just didn't get the same compression and feeling at the lever. Odd as I've always believed that your should change the M/C to suit..
