Straigtening bent gear shifter
My gear shifter is slighty bent towads the end (where the rubber is) - like it when i bought it and although i don't find it a real problem, i'd like to have a go at straightening it.
Any tips/advice for giving it a go?
On the bike/Take it off the bike?
Heat/No heat?
Big f***ing Hammer?
Long bar to use as a lever?
Dont bother and buy a replacement?

Dont bother buy a replacement.
Heat if you must, in a vice with some grips to bend it back ive done it, but youll need the rubber off or it will melt, plus there a bitch to get off.

its not the link rod thats bent, its the actual shifter arm.

Cast aluminium doesn't bend well.
It will 99% snap if you try and straighten it.
Many times i've been able to knock ones almost back to there original shape but as soon as you get close to the original profile it'll just snap.
You can try it but a replacement is best.
