Limp home mode?
I know the nc30 has this feature, and it seems mines gone into it.
Took the bike out for a ride up to a relatives to drop something off, just got out of town and onto the dual carriageway, accelerating fairly fast, then got into 4th gear and the bike wouldnt rev past 6k. Felt like two cylinders were misfiring as it should in limp home mode, and as a result I could only manage 60mph down the A1.
Currently at my relatives facing a longer than normal journey home.
What are the causes of this? Could be any number of things, and bear in mind this is the first time I've got back on the bike after the crash.

Speedo and CDI not talking to each other - check wiring behind clocks and fuses too for the dash

Havent been at the clock wiring yet, but I checked the fuse box under the pillion seat, and it seems one of them is dodgy.
I can't see if its broken but one of the prongs/legs moves easily, and only one of my rear lights is working when I turn on the low or full beam but both work when I use the brakes?

Re: Limp home mode?
does your horn work?
the rear lights thing is a bad bulb....simple as that.
if you have electric to the speedo and it is plugged into the loom OK - it should be right... if not, look to bridge the wires as described in the docs section

Re: Limp home mode?
Haven't tested the horn. Shall order a replacement bulb, also a load of spare fuses as they're dirt cheap anyway.
The speedo backlight is working and so are all the clocks etc.
Being a bit reluctant to run to the garage in this rain....... guess I'll just have to get wet.

Re: Limp home mode?
got to be an easy fix - read the doc wiring section and go from there. Loose connection in the bundle behind the clocks is my guess.

Re: Limp home mode?
No loose connections as far as I can see, and everything is working perfect apart from the rear light I mentioned earlier.
Is the resistor mod the thing I should do? If so it looks like there's a couple of ways to do it, which would you recommend?

Re: Limp home mode?
I don't have it done to be fair - I have an ignitech CDI and it doesn't care about the speedo!
Once upon a time I had a Rick O box. If I were you and needed it done now, temporarily - I would bridge the wires with whatever I could find to get me home..and then do the resistor mod.

Re: Limp home mode?
Well I got home at 60mph, just had to sit in the left lane behind lorries......
Think I'll bridge the wires instead of modding the CDI. Just need to get my hands on the stuff now.
Cheers
