Suspension Overhaul
Hi all,
First post for me on the new forum.
Its time the NC30 had a suspension overhaul i have decided. She weeping oil badly from the front left fork and whilst riding last night i noticed it was getting a little sketch under braking and cornering. Not a nice sensation really compared to usual handling.
I think the rear shock is knackered also. It feels very soft and always squeeks when i sit on the bike.
My questions to you all..
Whats the cheapest/best upgrade possible (i know there is a rear shock thread going on at present and that has been taken on board) but i'm also interested in the front end also.
Is changing oil/springs in forks relatively simple - i have a haynes manual and am pretty competant with a set of spanners. If not what is it likely to cost?
Also with regards to the rear, how much does it cost to have a shock re gassed. I have a remote type rear shock.
Thanks all.

going down that road myself buddy front forks. get a fork spring upgrade kit from rick oliver comes with stiffer springs spacers race spec oil and a measuring tool for accurate oil level, a brill bit of kit thanks rick ! as far as the rear shock goes i got an aprilia rs shock from another forum member which tbh by the time its been resprung/revalved/regassed modded to fit inc initial price i would probably have been better buying a hagon or emc shock new for around £260 but don't let it deter you by all accounts the original shox probably past its best years ago and anything is gonna be a worthwhile improvement. the shock can be removed without removing the exhaust but access is limited for reffitting/retorque of linkage bolts, the squeeking you describe may be dryness in the linkage bearings which will become apparent when you strip it down. if you don't already have one get a haynes manual and abba stand or axle stands. good luck. :)

Re: Suspension Overhaul
if it was only an oil and spring change it would be on of the easiest jobs ever,(undo top cap, oil out, spring out,new spring in, new oil in and put top cap back on)JTHOMAS wrote:Hi all,

however you need to do the seal on one side which will mean taking apart one of the forks altogether.
that job is a little tricky but a bit of mechanical competency goes a long way. i did it after all !!
