The NC30 & 35 tyre thread

I don't have a problem getting the bt090s or bt092s but keep hearing about how they are "long in the tooth". And the bt016 I could get for $180 (140 pounds approximately). It was just a question thrown out there, don't have much experience with the bike as of yet (just bought it last month). Currently has bt090/92 combo on it so previous owner clearly knew what he was doing. Anyone think a bt-003 is a good replacement for the bt090?

I agree with this recommendation, I race on it, but its a race tire only, not for road.

I recomend for Track/racing pirelli supercorsa pro 160/60/17sc2 120/70/17sc1 30psi cold all round

However Hot temps should be 30/35psi front and 26/29 psi rear.

I've heard good things about 003's and Q'2s but I hate both brands equally so I cant comment. (Prob both great tires though)

For road, Conti sport attack 2 is the nicest fucking tire out there at the best price, and there is nothing wrong with racing them either. In the wet they are sweet and on the track the guys do very well.

I know a few people who race conti's and love them, I ride the sport attack 2's on my 636 around town and dry and wet grip is phenominal. (Conti is engineered by ex-metzeler engineers) If its a DOT race tire you need they are fantastic. The sport attack 2's I can personally vouch for. SportAttack 2 is a better tire then Sportattack 1. (NOT ROAD ATTACKS!) I rode the sport attack 1's and just got the 2's, both are a fantastic tire but the 2 is better I believe.

The Q2 (Sportmax or sportsmart) They are different in europe to US so check it out is also a very good race/road tire.

Bridgestone 003 is a DRY TRACK orientated tire only. Very good thought sticky as and very compliant.
I hate all other bridgestone tires up until this tire, i've ridden it on a CBR and its a good tire for sure! Track tire only really but.

It may say "Street" but in the wet you'll slide off like an oiled up whore on a fat guy. I wrote to Conti for some information on a racers perspective and what levels of grip it is comparable with in direct testing with other tires. As far as I know the edge compounds of the SA2's and the RA's are the same softness.

Bottom line is as this review shows, the differences even between the WORST tire under the most controlled conditions you could get are bugger all. Really I think the psychological difference might have made 1/4 of a second if the rider didn't actually know what tire he was riding

Got Rosso2s on my nc35. Fantastic tyre yesterday in 25+ degrees, did a good few roundabout laps and never felt more confident in a bike.
In the wet, I have had small slides. More confidence on my RT with Pilot Road3s. Rossos are perfectly rideable but then I've spent years riding crap bikes and know how to compensate for less than ideal tyres.
So I'm happy. Perfect solution, one bike with year round tyres, one with sticky summer tyres. So long as I don't confuse which one is which, I will be fine !

Does anyone recommend pilot powers? Trying to find tires for this bike in the US is a PITA! Finding H rated tires that aren't dual sport or cruiser tires is virtually impossible.

Pilot powers are ok, pilot pures and ones are better.
Sport attack 2's are the shit, they make a 150 and 160 rear. They are well above H rating, as the Road attack is H rated. Also pirelli's are good but expensive. Try jakewilson.com or sportbiketrackgear.com for awesome deals.

I've not had my NC30 too long but have just order a new pair of BT090's mainly from personal experience of them on a FZR400RR 3TJ a few years ago...my point is these tyres appear to be now unlisted on the Bridgestone website..I guess there stopping manufacturing them...what are my options if that happens? Change the rear to 17"?

I can't help bro I know nothing about 18 inch rears, but just to be safe I'd be switching sooner rather then later.

I made the switch to the 17s, couldn't imagine finding a non-cruiser tire in the states at this point in the needed size. Its interesting that the road attacks are H rated, so perhaps that would be the better tire for the vfr, considering it is lighter weight than a normal 600 and the rubber compound is the same as the sport attack. I may have to be the guinea pig for this. My current setup is the 90/92 combo.
